How do you know Gods direction?
You are always told that you have to be saved. I hope that you are. Some people don't want to do what it takes to be saved, but that is between them and God. I would love to see everyone saved, but all I can do is tell you what it takes, the Holy Spirit does the rest. If you feel a tug at your heart like this is something you should do, that is the Holy Spirit. It is your choice and I hope you make the right one.
But that is not the lesson.
The lesson is now what do I do? How do I know God's direction after I am saved?
1KI 3:7 "Now, O LORD my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties. 8 Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number. 9 So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?" 1KI 3:10 The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. 11 So God said to him, "Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, 12 I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.
This worked for Solomon and because he asked with the right motive, he got what he asked for. And if we ask in that way, with the right motive, God will give us wisdom.
Will we get more wisdom than anyone else? Maybe, maybe not, but God will answer our prayer and give us what we need.
Lets continue:
PR 2:1 My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, 2 turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, 3 and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, 4 and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, 2:5 then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.
If you look at the last five verses you will find that we have to accept what he tells us. God talks to us in more then one way. He can speak to us directly, but that is not the norm. Usually he speaks to us through his word, which is the Bible. That is why it says you have to look for it like silver and search for it like treasure, in other words you have to study the Bible. It may not come easy, but God's promise is that you will understand him and find his knowledge.
So how do I do that again? I study the Bible and I research what I read.
Lets continue:
RO 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
The last verse tells us if we fill our mind with things from God and not the things of this world, we will find out what God's will is for us. It says we will be able to test and approve what his will is. In other words, those times that we are not sure of whether we are in God's will or not, we will be able to test and approve it by what we have learned.
Here is our conclusion:
1.We ask God and if we ask with the right motive he will grant us wisdom.
2.We accept what God tells us and search for his wisdom and we will find his knowledge.
3. We get transformed by the renewing of our mind. What we put into it we get out of it. In other words we will know what he wants us to do.
This will help us live our lives for Jesus and live in Gods will the way he intended for us to live.
